NINE voices FOUR languages UNIQUE experience!
IKI is a free improvisation band with nine singers from four Nordic countries: Iceland, Finland, Norway and Denmark.
IKI was founded in 2009 in Copenhagen where the nine singers, who all studied at the Rytmisk Musik Konservatorium, had a common desire to try new things in music and to create music. IKI is inspired by modern jazz, classical music, pop, folk, and more. The band works with melodies, sounds, harmonies, language and rythm, only by using their voices. All the music is created in the moment.
When IKI sings you can hear their deep Nordic roots and their female instinct and intuition. In some of the songs IKI uses lyrics, also created in the moment, and sometimes all four languages are used in one piece. IKI gets inspired by each place they perform at, and use the environment in their music. With nine voices in the beautiful surroundings of Iceland -anything can happen!
IKI will perform in the Nordic House on Culture Night at 20:00.
