The Nordic House and Iceland Airwaves are once again teaming up for an Airwaves off venue programme. On 15th-18th October some of today's most exciting Scandinavian bands will perform their music in an intimate setting.
The Nordic House main hall will be transformed into a cosy den where you will be able to listen to the bands in a sitting room-like atmosphere. Dill restaurant will set up a bar in the entrance hall, meaning you can sip on a drink while listening to some of your favourite bands perform acoustic versions of their songs. And if after hearing the band you are curious to know a little bit more about them you are welcome to take part in the Q&A session held after each concert. A journalist will do an open interview, as well as inviting the audience to ask their questions.
All events take place in the main hall of the Nordic House. They are free of charge and open to all, giving those who did not secure a festival pass in time a great opportunity to catch some of the fantastic bands from this year's Airwaves crop.
In addition to the concerts, there is also a special screening of Sigur Rós documentary Heima at the Nordic House at 2 pm on the Sunday, giving everyone a chance to end the festival on a chilled out note.
The pictures of one of Iceland Airwaves' favourite photographers Oliver James Leroe will also be on display, in an exhibition that takes you back to some of the most memorable moments of earlier Airwaves festivals. of
