Superflex, a part of (i)ndependent People,

contributes to the exhibition with the series of four hypnosis sessions, entitled The Financial Crisis, which operate as a kind of European subconscious from the basement of the Nordic House.

Learning Site – a group consisting of the artists Rikke Luther, Copenhagen/Berlin and Cecilia Wendt, Malmö – working with the writer Jaime Stapleton to create a contemporary scenography. They are a part of the group exhibition (i)ndependet People.

International Seminar 20 May 2012 20.5.2012

The international seminar will, along with the exhibition at the National Gallery, serve as a historical core and common point of reference. Local trajectories of collaborative and artist-initiated practices from the region reaching over 40 years operate as a background to questions asked.

Participants include: Sara Arrhenius, Signal, Jon Proppe, Nomeda & Gediminas Urbonas, Tinna Gretarsdottír, AMT, and is moderated by Markús þór Andrésson.

Liwen Huang 24th of May at 20.00 24.5.2012

Liwen Huang is a Chinese classical pianist and piano accompanist, born in 1985. She studied piano performance with professor Erling R. Eriksen in Department of Music and Dance at Stavanger University in Norway, and graduated with Master Degree in 2009 and Postgraduate Diploma in 2010. Concert starts at 20.00 the 24th of May

Auction

The art works from the exhibition WALLS will be put up for auction in the Nordic House on February 25th at 4pm. Andri Freyr Viðarsson, radio host,  presents and manages the auction and will also entertain guests. This is a special opportunity to get a contemporary art work from some of the best street artists in Iceland. The price range of the pieces is 20.000 – 160.000 ISK. The Chamber Club

 Concerts July 1 15.00.
The Chamber Club (Kammerklúbburinn) trains young musicians in the Reykjavik capital area in peforming a variety of chamber music in small orchestras. The Chamber Club was established in 2009 by teacher/musician Ewa Tosik with the support of a group of parents.  The members of the club, a group of 20 young people, age 12 to 20, are advanced students from several Reykjavik area music schools.

RIFF-Reykjavík International Film Festival

RIFF unites it all: Screenings at downtown venues of a wide range of fresh films from the international film scene, midnight movies, concerts and hip bars.

The Nordic House has been a part of riff.is from the beginning and this year we have put up a Cinema Bar in our exhibition hall downstairs. There you can listen to records, buy popcorn and red vine as well as hang out in our  sofas before the movie starts.
