Þóra Jónsdóttir –exhibition at the Nordic House 2nd till 18th of May 2014
Þóra exhibits abstract oil paintings with a memory of a landscape. The paintings were painted in the last six years.
The SJÄLÖ 9 group has brought forth themes that are opposite yet overlapping: NORMAL-ABNORMAL; CULTURE-NATURE; REASON-BODY; NORMAL FEMININITY-ABERRANT FEMININITY; HEALTH-ILLNESS.The project will be shown 5/4 – 27/4 in Reykjavík, Iceland, where the group will hold a seminar in conjunction with the exhibit that connects the subject in cooperation with the Nordic House and the University of Iceland.
Inspired by a 5.000 year old Sumerian myth - the earliest account of descent and ascent to and from the netherworld, from the Sumerian culture - the
intention of the exhibition is to illuminate the life and stories that are connected to the phenomenon of descent into the netherworld.
Tölt is an art exhibition entirely dedicated to the Icelandic horse, presented through diverse media such as photography, sculpture, video, animation, design and fashion.
The exhibition is carried out as part of the Art Without Boundaries (AWB) festival. The exhibition is a multiartistic piece, where the heart is a labyrinth built by the Akureyrian artists Rosa Juliusdottir and Karl Guðmundsson.
